Ideal for fishing, picnics & birdwatching

Apart from storage of water for consumptive use and to regulate the river flow downstream, our weirs can also be a wonderful location for recreational activities.  Depending on the weir, some are great for fishing, birdwatching, picnicking and free camping.  Scroll down to see what each offers.

Condobolin Weir

Condobolin weir is the access/exit point to the Lachlan River for the end of the Forbes to the Condobolin section and the start point for the Condo Euabalong section of the river. Water access is off the bank.
 
This weir and access point is in behind the Riverview Caravan Park with access always with the Caravan Park’s management approval. Facilities such as BBQ, picnic area and fresh water is available at the caravan park and approval should be obtained from the caravan park. 
   
Features include scenic walk, surrounding scenery, grass and shade area ideal for picnicking.

Goobank Creek Weir

The town of Condobolin is an access point on the Lachlan River in the Forbes to Condobolin section and the end of the Waroo bridge to Goobang Creek section.  Those kayaking or canoeing can decide to leave the creek here or travel further through Condobolin to meet the Lachlan River again just above  Condobolin weir which is behind the Riverview Caravan park. Portage is required around both weirs.
 
As the weir is located within the township of Condobolin services and facilities can be accessed in the town.
   
Features include scenic walk, free river camping and the surrounding scenery.  The road access is sealed.

Lake Cargelligo Weir

Lake Cargelligo Weir is a camping area that sits on the edge of River.  It is west of Condobolin via Lachlan Valley Way.

The weir is renowned for its birdlife with pelicans, swans, wild ducks, geese and parrots are just a few of the birds you may see there.  Fishing and picnicking are also popular pastimes.   Road access is unsealed.

It’s a 2WD, dry-weather access only; bring your own drinking water and firewood.

There are no amenities at this location so you will need to be self sufficient

Features include free river camping, birdwatching, fishing and picnicking.  Tiolet facilities are available.

Booberoi Weir

Booberoi Weir is free camping area and is a great spot to do some fishing and plain old relaxing. 

It is grassy with shade available if desired. It’s a great place to stop at and test your kayak and fishing gear, and trusty camera.

There are no amenities and facilities at this location so you will need to be self sufficient

Features include walks, free river camping, birdwatching, fishing, picnicking and grassy shade area and it’s pet friendly area.
