, Condobolin, New South Wales, 2877

Tucked away in Condobolin’s Cemetery lies a quiet testament to the town’s once-thriving Chinese community. The earliest recorded Chinese burial here dates back to 1883, though the first known Chinese burial in the area occurred in 1877 at Sacred Park.

For decades, the community played a crucial role in the town’s development. The last burial, that of Ah Gong (Ng Sha Gong), a market gardener murdered in 1945, marked the end of Condobolin’s Chinese presence. Within two years, the entire community had left.

Today, the Chinese Burial Ground offers a rare glimpse into the lives of early settlers whose stories are too often forgotten. Walk through this historic site and discover the legacy of those who shaped the town in ways still felt today.

Come explore, reflect, and honor the history that remains in the quiet gravestones of Condobolin’s Chinese Burial Ground.
